Se exponen rasgos particulares de la Relación de la fiesta de proclamación de Luis I en la ciudad de Cartago, Costa Rica (1725) que la separan del aparato prescriptivo aplicado a este tipo de documentos. Además, el comentario ha querido leer en estas irregularidades elementos de literariedad interesantes al análisis. Paralelamente, se reflexiona sobre las cuestiones de géneros literarios y de la admisión en el canon tradicional de obras de la cultura letrada, escritas durante la Colonia centroamericana. In this essay I examine the possibilities of approaching the phenomenon of memory from the point of view of space. Drawing on Edward Casey’s Getting Back into Place and on Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s analyses of the spatialized lived body, I attempt to show in what way memory can be said to belong to places. My inquiry ends with a discussion of Paul Ricoeur’s proposals on the narrative dimension of human space, which, I argue, allows us to consider why a building or (...) a city may be said to produce a sensed duration by and through inscribing it in the durability of their materials and, at the same time, in human histories. This paper aims to reflect on the possibilities of approaching the phenomenon of memory in relation to space. In order to approach memory on “the side ofspace”, we will find our first decisive guidelines in M. Merleau-Ponty’s analysis of habit developed in Phenomenology of Perception. Starting from there, we will then try to show in what way memory, in a way, can be said to belong to places. The final point of the discussion is Ricœur’s investigation of architecture and urbanism’s (...) analogies with narrative, as they allow us to consider a hermeneutic approach to the spatial fabric of time. Um aspeto fundamental do modo de ser da nossa corporeidade complexa, sugerido na primeira parte deste trabalho pelo alinhamento da experiência do amputado com a experiência do luto, permaneceu aí implícito e não enfrentado, sendo agora o momento de o retomar: trata-‑se de saber que papel desempenha o corpo na própria origem da relação intersubjetiva -‑ ou, se quisermos, como pode contribuir para resolver o “problema da existência de outras mentes”. In our paper we aim to meditate on the concept of depth (profondeur) in the works of M. Merleau-Ponty, as it is a key notion to understand the French philosopher’s concept of space. Furthermore we will try to show that space plays a fundamental role in the development of Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy, allowing us to understand important features both of his phenomenological readings and ontological project.

El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar la teoría del espacio interior del cuerpo de Maine de Biran a lo largo de sus tres componentes principales que son establecidos a lo largo de un diálogo crítico con Condillac y Destutt de Tracy, y desarrollados desde el punto de vista de la teoría del esfuerzo. Esos componentes son: la durabilidad del esfuerzo primordial; la posibilidad de percibir el espacio exterior; la consistencia del tiempo furtivo de la sensibilidad.

Indirect Nature and the Colors of the Invisible. In particolare, intendiamo mostrare come in queste lezioni sia tracciata una filosofia della natura in vista di una nuova concezione dell’Essere che superi l’ontologia dell’oggetto, ma anche di una nuova filosofia del corpo percipiente incarnato. This paper aims to meditate on the importance of Jacob von Uexküll’s notion of Umwelt in Merleau-Ponty’s research of an ontophenomenological path - that is to say, in Merleau-Ponty’s putting to the test of some of the thesis and presuppositions that were at the heart of both La structure du Comportement and the Phénoménologie de la perception. As Merleau-Ponty is looking for a way to develop and overcome the results of an investigation based on the point of view of consciousness, (...) this notion of Umwelt will become–namely in the three lecture courses on the concept of Nature, delivered by Merleau-Ponty in the late 1950s at the Collège de France–more and more decisive.Este artículo trata de meditar acerca de la importancia de la noción de Umwelt de Uexküll en la búsqueda de un camino ontofenomenológico por parte de Merleau-Ponty, es decir, en la puesta a prueba de ciertas tesis y presupuestos que estaban presentes en el núcleo tanto de La structure du Comportement como de Phénoménologie de la perception. Siendo así que Merleau-Ponty persigue encontrar un camino para desarrollar y superar los resultados de una investigación basada en el punto de vista de la conciencia, esta noción de Umwelt llegará a ser –especialmente en las lecciones de los tres cursos sobre el concepto de Nature, impartidos por Merleau-Ponty a finales de los años 50 en el Collège de France– cada vez más decisiva. As we turn to the lived experience of memory, we are confronted with an eerie and enigmatic possibility: the possibility to remember what we ourselves never lived. How to explain phenomenologically this enigmatic but fundamental level of spatialized memory? I would like to come back to these issues in order to face yet another fundamental question: Does a phenomenology of spatialized memory require any onto-phenomenological concretizations?

What role does “discursive consciousness” play in decision-making? How does it interact with “practical consciousness?” These two questions constitute two important gaps in strong practice theory that extend from Pierre Bourdieu's habitus to Stephen Vaisey's sociological dual-process model and beyond. The goal of this paper is to provide an empirical framework that expands the sociological dual-process model in order to fill these gaps using models from cognitive neuroscience. In particular, I use models of memory and moral judgment that highlight the (...) importance of executive functions and semantic memory. I outline each model as it pertains to the aforementioned gaps in strong practice theory. I then use the models from cognitive neuroscience to create an expanded dual-process model that addresses how and when conscious mental systems override and interact with subconscious mental systems in the use of cultural ends for decision-making. Finally, using this expanded model I address the sociological debate over the use of interview and survey data. My analysis reveals that surveys and interviews both elicit information encoded in declarative memory and differ primarily in the process of information retrieval that is required of respondents. This paper aims to meditate the importance of cinematographic image in the development of Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology of perception. It will also try to underline such a subject in the later works of the French philosopher. Therefore, we will try to base our considerations upon the ideas of body, space, Visible and flesh.

In this paper I aim to reflect on Maine de Biran’s modernity with regard to the subject of a philosophy of anxiety. Biran first notes a connection between anxiety and motility; secondly, Biran invites us to think of intersubjectivity as something that is not foreign to the sensation of anxiety; third, Biran feels “surprised several times”, as if his own anxiety, while interior, were something that seems to originate from outside. These will by the main axes of this paper.
